Uttar Pradesh: One dead, 4 fall ill after leakage in bio-gas plant in Bareilly

One worker died and four others taken ill after leakage in a private bio-gas plant in Bithari Chainpur area of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, an administration official said on Wednesday.

Deputy Collector (Sadar) Ratnika Shrivastava here said that there is a bio-gas plant in Bhojpur Ramnath village.

"Late on Tuesday night five workers fell unconscious due to leakage in the plant and were admitted to a medical college by the management," she said.

Ratnika said that one of the workers, Rishu (20), a resident of Vaishali district in Bihar, died during treatment.

"Other workers are being treated at the medical college.The police are contacting the family members of the workers," she said.

Shrivastava said that an inquiry is being conducted by the administration into the matter.

"Directives have been issued to provide proper treatment to the victims," the Deputy Collector said.
