Uttar Pradesh: Self-styled god woman threatens cops with sword amid COVID 19 lockdown, arrested

Lucknow/IBNS: On a day when India is living in its first day of lockdown as imposed by the Centre to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak, a self-styled godwoman in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district tried to give some tough time to cops as she brandished swords and tried to stop police from ending a religious gathering taking place at her residence on Wednesday.

In a video, which has now gone viral on the social media, Maa Aadi Shakti, the name by which she is known, could be seen brandishing a sword towards cops as they tried to take control of the situation.

The cops were later seen taking situation under control as policewomen arrested, dragged and took the god woman to the van.

The police also removed those who had assembled at the spot for the religious gathering arranged by the god woman.

It took a mild lathi-charge to finally remove the "devotees" - some all the way from neighbouring Bihar, reported NDTV.

The woman completely ignored the social distancing and other lockdown rules which have been imposed by the Centre for 21 days to combat the outbreak of the virus which has claimed 11 lives in India so far.

Wednesday marked the first day of the lockdown.
