Uttarakhand: One killed, 31 injured as car runs over marriage procession in Haridwar

Haridwar: A car ran over a wedding procession, killing one person and injuring 31 in Uttarakhand's Haridwar on Friday.

The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Two of them are in critical condition while the others have been discharged.

According to an India Today report, the driver of the car admitted that he wanted to apply the brakes when he saw the procession but pushed the accelerator of his car by mistake.

He was caught by the onlookers and thrashed. Later, he was also admitted to a hospital.

Superintendent of Police Swatantra Kumar Singh said the driver is under medical supervision.

The medical report of the driver will reveal whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
