Vellore: Former AIADMK MLA, 2 others killed in mishap

Chennai, Apr 6 (UNI) A former AIADMK legislator and two others, including his wife, were killed in a road accident near Vinnamangalam village near Vaniyambadi in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

Police sources said the former Tirupattur MLA Sundaravel, who later joined the AMMK led by rebel leader T T V Dhinakaran, was coming to Chennai to meet an opthalmologist from Ambur when the car in which he was travelling, rammed into a container lorry at high speed.

In the mishap, Sundaravel, who is also the district Secretary of AMMK, his wife Vijayalakshmi and car driver Veeramani were killed on the spot.

The impact of the accident was such that the car was squeezed under the container lorry.

Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and struggled hard to retrieve the bodies and sent them to government hospital.

The car was reduced to a mangled heap.
