"Was mistaken to quit Delhi govt without consulting people"

Speaking to NDTV from Varanasi, where he will stay till May 12 to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal said, "Resigning on principles was right, we had to do it. But like before forming the government in Delhi we had meetings with the public, we should have consulted the public before quitting as well."

He said that there was a "communication gap" as the reason for their resignation could not reach the people.

"I could have also stuck to the Chief Minister's position as others do but my soul didn't agree. I decided to resign. We thought that we had done a big sacrifice, and the public would praise us, but the public couldn't understand the logic," the AAP supremo said.

Speaking on posters calling him a "Bhagoda CM" (someone who flees), which have been put across the Varanasi city, the former Delhi CM said, "Those posters had been put up by the BJP."

However, he accepted that even the public is asking him the reason for quitting the government.

"I agree that...in many places, public is asking why I quit," Kejriwal told the channel.

The AAP chief is fighting the Lok Sabha polls from the Varanasi constituency in UP against BJP big weight Narendra Modi.
