WB: Cops allegedly attacked by TMC supporters

Kolkata, Apr 5 (IBNS): The Champdani Police Outpost, which is under Bhadreswar Police Station, was attacked and some police vehicles were damaged allegedly by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters at Chamdani area in West Bengal's Hoogly district on Sunday.

According to reports, police had seized two motorcycles on Sunday morning as the bikers did not have valid papers.

After some hours, the Councillor of Champdani municipality and TMC leader Bikram Gupta allegedly came to the Champdani police outpost with his followers and forced to release the seized bikes.

When police officers refused his proposal, Bikram Gupta and his followers allegedly attacked the police outpost.

Five policemen were injured in the incident. Three police jeeps and nine motorcycles of policemen were damaged in the attack.

A heavy police force was deployed in the spot to bring the situation under control.

Police have detained 15 persons in connection with the attack.
