WB presents budget, 17.5 lakh employment to be created

Kolkata, Feb 27 (IBNS) West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Friday presented the state budget and said the government is expecting to create 17.5 lakh employment in the coming year.

"In the last year, we could create 16.6 lakh employment, in the coming year we are expecting 17.5 lakh employment," Mitra said in his speech.

"West Bengal secured the top position in the 100 Days Work Scheme," he said.

Mitra said: "Bengal has a huge debt, in 2013-14, Rs 28,000 crore has been deducted."

Mitra said 10 years of Tax Relief will be given to providers of Green Electricity.

"Planned Expenditure has been a record double in the past 2 years," he said.

He said the state government is aiming to jump a growth of 10.48 percent GSDP in 2015-16.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee  later said: "This is a people’s budget.It  was a Budget for Maa, Mati, Manush.”
