'We have no role': Al Falah University V-C speaks out after faculty arrested in Delhi blast case
New Delhi/IBNS: Al Falah University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bhupinder Kaur Anand on Wednesday said the educational institution has no link apart from professional ties with the doctors, who have been arrested in connection with the terror module busted in Faridabad and the blast which took place in Delhi, media reports said.
Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Shaheen Shahid, the associates of Dr. Mohammad Umar who were driving the car that blasted in Delhi, were arrested for possessing huge quantities of explosives, arms, and ammunition.
Kaur said as quoted by Hindustan Times, "We are anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same... We have also learnt that two of our doctors have been detained by the Investigating Agencies.
"The University has no connection with the said persons apart from them working in their official capacities with the University."
In response to the allegations against the doctors arrested with huge amounts of chemicals like ammonium nitrate and weapons, Kaur said, "We strongly condemn and categorically deny all such false and defamatory allegations. No such chemical or material, as alleged by certain platforms, is being used, stored, or handled within the University premises.
"The University laboratories are used solely and exclusively for the academic and training requirements of MBBS students and other authorised courses."
The university said it is extending all forms of support to the security agencies in probing the Delhi blast that killed at least nine people and injured several others near Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening.
The security forces busted a terror module which they called "white-collar terror network" arresting seven people including two doctors across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The security forces also recovered nearly 2,900 kilograms of explosive and inflammable materials, assault rifles, pistols and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making components during the raids in Faridabad, HT said.
The Delhi Police on Wednesday registered a First Information Report (FIR) confirming the blast near Red Fort as a "terror attack", The Times of India reported.
The FIR has been registered under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Initial probe reports suggest the blast was carried out by a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module to avenge the extensive damage caused on its Bahawalpur headquarters during Operation Sindoor.
