We made promise and fulfilled it: Modi on OROP
Faridabad, Sept 6 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, after flagging off the Badarpur-Mujesar Metro Line in Haryana's Faridabad, said his government is fulfilling the promise made on One Rank One Pension.
"Before becoming the PM, my first programme after being announced the PM candidate was in Haryana with ex-servicemen. During that programme I had spoken about OROP. This issue went on for years, for 4 decades," Modi said.
He said no issue for him is bigger than respect for the veterans and those who gave their life for the nation.
"We made a promise and we are fulfilling it. For the previous government OROP was just about Rs. 500 crore. Our government went deeper into the issue and got to know that OROP is not about Rs. 500 crore. Our government has allocated Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000 crore for OROP," claimed Modi.
He said the Commission is not like a Pay Commission. "It is about a system where if there is a shortcoming, it can be looked into and sorted," PM Modi said.
Taking a dig at the oppositions, Modi said, "Many people are trying to do politics over this. Those who didn't do anything for 40 years have no right to speak, especially speak on behalf of the soldiers," said he.
"This has become a fashion that if the government does something good then those who are rejected will speak and prevent the nation from going ahead," said he.

This comes after the government on Saturdayannounced the implementation of the One Rank One Pension scheme even as the ex-servicemen expressed their disappointment over the issue, yielding no positive solution to the ongoing conflict.
While addressing the rally, Modi also hailed Haryana and said, "Haryana is my second home. I have seen Faridabad develop."
"Faridabad has become a small India since people from all corners of the country resides in Faridabad," said he.
"Haryana converted itself from being a dangerous place for girls to being a savior of girls," he praised.
Speaking on the newly launched Badarpur-Mujesar Metro Line, which will benefit about two lakh daily commuters, Modi said: "This metro line is environment friendly. I appreciate the use of solar panels."
While addressing the rally, Modi also hailed Haryana and said, "Haryana is my second home. I have seen Faridabad develop."
