Kolkata, Oct 2 (IBNS): At least four civic volunteers were injured on Sunday as a crude bomb exploded at Shibpur Police Station compound in West Bengal's Howrah district, reports said.

According to reports, police used to store crude bombs, recovered in raids, in an open space inside the police station compound.

While few civic volunteers were cleaning the area, one bomb suddenly exploded and all four were injured

One of them- Aniruddha Bag- was seriously injured and has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata.

After the explosion, a heavy police force, state Criminal Investigation Department (CID)'s bomb disposal squad and as many as two fire tender engines rushed to the spot.

Bomb disposal squad recovered 50 more crude bombs from the place and defused those later.

However, police have started investigation into the matter, officials said.
