West Bengal records highest single day spike in Covid-19 cases, death toll at 200

Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal on Sunday reported highest spike in the coronavirus cases after 208 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 3,667, said the state Health Department.

A total of three people--two in Kolkata and one in Howrah--succumbed to the infection, raising the death toll due to the pandemic to 200, the department added in its daily briefing.

The number of recoveries from Covid-19 stands at 1,339 after 58 more people were cured of the disease in the state, it said.

As many as 9,216 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in West Bengal, after which the total number of Covid-19 tests stood at 13,88,24, informed the bulletin.

The bulletin said 72 people infected with coronavirus died of comorbities (underlying causes).
