West Bengal state board exams for class 10, 12 cancelled due to COVID-19: CM Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata/IBNS: Prioritizing students' safety, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced the cancellation of state board exams for class 10 (Madhyamik/Secondary) and class 12 (Higher Secondary-HS) for academic year 2020-21 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During a media conference at state administrative headquarters at Nabanna, Mamata Banerjee said that the evaluation method for the students of class 10 and 12 will be finalized and declared within next seven days.

Earlier, besides constituting an expert committee, Bengal government had invited views and opinions from the general people, students, parents and guardians on the conduct of these two board exams amid the situation.

Several others boards had earlier cancelled their examinations amid second wave of the pandemic in the country.

West Bengal is following lockdown like strict restrictions ot reduce COVID cases till June 15.
