Wish Narendra Modi returns as PM again: Mulayam Singh Yadav

New Delhi, Feb 13 (IBNS): Samajwadi Party's founder leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday congratulated Narendra Modi for trying to take everyone together in the Parliament and wished he returned as the Prime Minister for the second term following the general elections.

Mulayam's Samajwadi Party is a key opposition to Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party and his son Akhilesh Yadav has been one of the key persons who is trying to form an alliance of the opposition parties against the ruling party before the Lok Sabha polls.

The Samajwadi Party joined hands with Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party to fight together in the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh and give a tough battle to the BJP.

"The Prime Minister has wonderfully and I want to congratulate him for taking everyone together. I will also like to see him returning as the PM of the nation once again," Mulayam Singh Yadav said in the Parliament.

The Parliament met for the last time before the Lok Sabha polls on Wednesday.

During his speech in the Parliament, Modi also thanked Yadav for his remarks.

Rahul Gandhi reacts:

When asked about Mulayam Singh Yadav's remarks, Rahul Gandhi said he disagreed with the SP leader's opinion about Modi.

"I disagree with him," Gandhi said while addressing a press conference here.

"Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji has a role in politics and I respect his opinion," he said.

Akhilesh and Lucknow episode:

Mulayam made the remarks a day after Mulayam SIngh Yadav's son and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav alleged that he was prevented from boarding plane at Lucknow airport.

Hitting out at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) president, Akhilesh Yadav, has alleged that he was prevented from boarding plane at Lucknow airport.

Akhilesh was about to attend a programme of the Allahabad University Students' Union on Tuesday afternoon.

He took to Twitter to say, "I was prevented from boarding the airplane without any written orders. Currently detained at Lucknow airport. It is clear how frightened the govt is by the oath ceremony of a student leader. The BJP knows that youth of our great country will not tolerate this injustice anymore!"

The SP leader was about to be present at the oath-taking ceremony of the students' union in the Allahabad University. The student wing of Akhilesh's party is presently holding the president's post of Allahabad University Students' Union.

However, the Allahabad University had reportedly told Akhilesh's personal secretary that politicians are not allowed for any event in the university.

Oppositon leaders support Akhilesh:

Several key opposition leaders, including BSP chief Mayawati, Delhi CM Arvind Kejiwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, attacked the BJP over the issue.

Strain relationship between Akhilesh Yadam-Mulayam Singh Yadav:

In the past two years, the relationship between the father and the son has not been on the best of terms and Akhilesh Yadav even staged a coup and took over the control of the party.

Despite troubles, Mulayam Singh Yadav decided to stay by the side of Akhilesh.
