Idukki, Oct 28 (IBNS): A 27-year-old woman from Gujarat was trampled to death by a captive elephant at Iruttukanam near Munnar in Kerala’s Idukki district on Tuesday, media reports said.

The victim, identified as Dipali, was with a 14-member tourist group. Police said she hailed from Nandod in Narmada district of Gujarat.

The incident took place when Dipali was trying to take pictures of the elephant at a private elephant ride park.

The elephant first struck her with its trunk. When Dipali fell, it stomped over her body killing her on the spot. The body has been kept in a nearby government hospital and would be flown back home on Wednesday, reports said.
