Yogi Adityanath suspends six civic officials over potholes on road leading to Ram Temple in Ayodhya

Ayodhya/IBNS: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has suspended six civic officials of Ayodhya after potholes emerged on Ram Path, the road leading to Ram Temple, media reports said.

The 14-kilometer-stretch road suffered cave-ins after the seasonal rain battered the city.

Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi said efforts were made to take out the rainwater from the road which saw waterlogging.

This comes days after leakage was reported from Ayodhya's Ram Temple during heavy rains a week ago.

Ram Temple's chief priest on Monday claimed rainwater leaks from the roof were collected inside the complex.

Ram Temple Trust general secretary Champat Rai rejected the claims of water leakage and said "not a single drop of water" leaked from the roof.

The reports have emerged five-six months after the temple was inaugurated in a grand ceremony in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, celebrities from film industries, business tycoons among others.

The Opposition has traded charges of corruption against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, which is in power both at Centre and Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai said as quoted by NDTV, "Even the places of worship are sources of loot for the BJP."
