You crossed all limits: Sushma Swaraj slams Mamata Banerjee for her 'slap of democracy' remark against Modi

New Delhi, May 8 (IBNS): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday slammed West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for her 'tight slap of democracy' comment on PM Narendra Modi and said she has crossed all limits.

In a tweet, Sushma Swaraj said: "Mamataji, you have crossed all limits. You are the Chief Minister of a state and Modiji is the Prime Minister of the nation. You have to talk to him tomorrow. This is why I would like to remind you of a couplet written by Bashir Badr: Rage all you want but I just have this one request from you, do not feel ashamed when we have to become friends again someday."

Mamata Banerjee, while addressing a rally in Purulia on Tuesday, attacked PM Narendra Modi and said that whenever the BJP leader came down to Bengal and called her party Trinamool Congress as 'tolabaaz' (extornionist), she felt like giving a slap of democracy on him.

"Money does not matter to me," Mamata Banerjee said.

"Whenever Narendra Modi visits Bengal and accused my party of being tolabaaz, I wanted to give him a tight slap of democracy," she said.

Modi made the comment at a time when India is gearing up for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls.

This time India is witnessing seven-phased Lok Sabha polls.

Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
