Actress Jacqueline Fernandez turns 30

Kolkata, Aug 11 (IBNS) Bollywood actress and Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez turned 30 as she celebrated her birthday on Tuesday.

Fans and followers poured in their best wishes and special birthday messages through Twitter using #HappyBirthdayJacqueline.

Born in the year 1985 to a Sri Lankan father and a Malaysian mother, she grew up in Bahrain.

Jacqueline was a model and won the Miss Sri Lanka Universe pageant in 2006 prior to her career in Bollywood.

A mass communications graduate, this leggy beauty has worked as a television reporter, hosted several shows and even appeared in music videos.

She was in India in 2009 for a modeling assignment when an offer from Bollywood came her way. Later that year, she debuted in Sujoy Ghosh’s fantasy drama flick Aladin opposite Ritesh Deshmukh. The film also starred Bollywood heavyweights Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt.

She went on to win the IIFA Best Debut Female Award and thus her courtship with the Mumbai based film industry began.

Murder 2 (2011) was her first commercial success, followed by blockbusters Housefull 2 and Race 2.

The Sinhalese beauty takes up other humanitarian works when she’s not acting.

An active member of PETA, she campaigns for ethical treatment of horses and appeared in an advertisement for spreading awareness. PETA India named her ‘Woman Of The Year’ in 2014.

The year proved to be a turning point in her career as Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Kick’ hit the movie screens. The movie smashed multiple Bollywood records and created new ones. It catapulted Jacqueline to a new dimension.

Bold and beautiful, Fernandez has won millions of hearts, setting the screen ablaze with her oomph.


Currently she is busy promoting her new film, Brothers, starring Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra. The movie will hit the screen on August 14.
