Bengali actor Aryuun wins double honours at Berlin's Indo-German Film Week for Adamya
Kolkata/IBNS: Actor Aryuun has bagged two honours—Best Actor and the Jury Award for Best Performance (shared)—at the 14th Indo-German Film Week in Berlin for his performance in Bengali film Adamya (The Unbroken).
Written and directed by Ranjan Ghosh, Adamya is presented by veteran filmmaker Aparna Sen, marking the first time she has presented a feature film.
The film is produced by Anjan Bose, Bajrang Lal Agarwal and Ranjan Ghosh under the banners of Aurora Film Corporation, Channel B Entertainment and Kinetoscope Films.
Besides Aryuun, the cast includes Senjuti Mukherjee (guest appearance), Sourya Madrajee, Arjo Giri, Shubham Dutta, Relish Khan, Samrat Bose and Debasish Giri, among others.
Political drama set in the Sundarbans
Set against the backdrop of the Sundarbans, Adamya follows Palash, a 23-year-old man whose involvement in a failed political assassination turns him from hunter to hunted.
As he flees the system, the film explores questions surrounding ideology, resistance and justice, asking whether its protagonist is an extremist or a revolutionary. The narrative examines the long-standing conflicts among people, nature and the state while portraying the resilience of a political movement despite repression.
Aparna Sen's first presentation
Director Ranjan Ghosh said it was a matter of pride that Aparna Sen agreed to present the film, describing it as the first time she has lent her name as a presenter to a feature.
He said the film examines the socio-political realities of contemporary society, including inequality, exploitation, displacement and the shrinking space for dissent.
"The system has a ready label for them—extremists. But it is for us, the people, to decide if they are extremists or revolutionaries, anti-nationals or patriots," Ghosh said in a statement.
Aryuun reflects on award-winning role
Reacting to the recognition, Aryuun described Adamya as a deeply personal project.
"I have absolutely no words to describe my feelings about Adamya. No word can express the emotions and love I feel for this film. My sweat, injuries, pain and blood have fused into it," he said.
The actor said he had been associated with the project since its inception and credited director Ranjan Ghosh and the entire team for their faith and hard work.
"Not everyone gets the fortune of debuting in such a central role. I consider myself fortunate to have bagged it. This film and the character will stay with me all my life. The trust Ranjan-da placed in me for his fifth film is what gives me strength," he added.

The film's technical team includes cinematographer Arkaprabha Das, editor and colourist Kaushik Ray, sound designer Adeep Singh Manki, sound mixer Anindit Roy, and music composer Avijit Kundu.
