Bollywood hero Akshay Kumar turns 49

Mumbai, Sept 9 (IBNS): Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar on Friday celebrated his 49th birthday.

Born in 1967 as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia, Akshay made his Bollywood debut in a 1987, when he landed a minor role.

His first major role came four years later in Saugandh.

Although he started off as an action hero, owing to his extensive training in martial arts, Akshay started taking lighter roles in the later part of his career.

With over a hundred films in his resume, the actor has delivered the most number of blockbusters in recent times, compared to his colleagues.

Akshay is a 2009 Padma Shri award winner.

Among film awards, the actors boasts of two Filmfare Awards and six IIFA Awards across various genres.
