Guwahati, Dec 19 (IBNS) : Assam government on Monday said that Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra would be the brand ambassador of Assam tourism for next two years.

During a press conference, Assam tourism minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government has signed a two-year agreement with Priyanka Chopra.

“We also approached Cricket Maestro Sachin Tendulkar, but he refused. After that, we touched with Priyanka and approached to promote Assam tourism globally and she agreed,” the Assam minister said.

The Assam minister also said that Priyanka will arrive in Guwahati on Dec 24 and took part at a International tour operators conclave.

Sarma further said that the two-year agreement with Priyanka is free of cost.

“But we will pay her during shooting session,” Sarma said.

“We will go to nations like US, UK, Germany and Japan to promote Assam tourism globally,” the Assam minister said.
