Delay-hit Jana Nayagan eyes post-Toxic release window: Report

| @indiablooms | Mar 28, 2026, at 06:33 pm

Chennai/IBNS: Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, which was initially slated for a January release, hit a roadblock due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film’s planned January 9 release was postponed after it failed to secure clearance from the CBFC.

After months of delay, the makers are now expecting certification soon and are preparing to lock a new release date.

The timing, however, is likely to be influenced by the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The project has also faced a setback on the digital front, with reports suggesting that its streaming partner may have pulled out of the OTT deal due to repeated delays.

This uncertainty has forced the makers to reassess their financial strategy while finalising a fresh release window.

Jana Nayagan is now likely to be pushed to June–July, keeping in mind the release schedules of KD: The Devil and Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, both backed by KVN Productions.

While Dhruva Sarja’s KD: The Devil is slated for an April 30 release, Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups is scheduled to hit theatres on June 4.
