Heeramandi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s cinematic art is so seductive, says Shekhar Kapur

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is making the right noise and earning positive reviews from fans and critics alike since it hit the OTT platform.

Director Shekhar Kapur is the latest celebrity to praise the OTT series which features a long star cast led by Manisha Koirala.

Appreciating the series, Kapur posted on X: "Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s cinematic art is so seductive. He pulls you into his world and mesmerises you. His images stayed with me long after I binge watched the whole of #Heeramandi in one go.. and what an effective performance by Monisha Koirala @mkoirala Finally #Netflix is giving Indian filmmakers budgets they deserve."

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is an Indian Hindi-language period drama television series created and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The series is about the lives of tawaifs in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj.

It stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal, and Taha Shah Badussha, with Farida Jalal, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan and Adhyayan Suman in recurring roles.
