I am not a terrorist: Sanjay Dutt

Mumbai, Feb 25 (IBNS): Walking out of a Pune jail after 42 months, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Thursday returned to his Mumbai residence and said he was not a 'terrorist'.

"I am not a terrorist," Dutt said while addressing a press conference here.

"I was in jail under the Arms Act. It is a request to you all that please do not call me a 1993 Bombay blast convict," he said.

Dutt, who was released from prison, said he is finally feeling that he is 'free'.

"Today, I am feeling that I am finally free," Dutt said.

"I know it will take some time for me to convince myself that I am free," he said.

Dutt said he is missing his father Sunil Dutt.

"I am proud to be an Indian. So, I kissed the ground and saluted my flag after coming out of jail," he said.

Speaking on visiting his mother Nargis' grave and offering prayers to her, the actor said: "My mother left us when we were all very small, wanted to go to her grave and tell her that I am a free man today."

She called her wife Manyata as his 'best half'.

"She is like a pillar and strength in my life," Dutt said.

"My wife suffered more than me," he said.

"I have given the money I have earned from prison to my wife like any good husband," Dutt said.

Dutt, who was jailed in an illegal arms case related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts,  was released after serving 42 month in prison.

Dutt was found guilty in 2013 of acquiring illegal weapons from those involved in the 1993 attacks in Mumbai in which 257 people were killed.

He was sentenced to six years in jail in 2007; he served 18 months but then was out on bail, fighting the conviction until a court in March 2013 ordered him back to jail in Pune.
