Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Katrina Kaif graced the screening of her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal starrer Hindi film Chhaava.

The film, which is based on the life of 17th century Maratha ruler Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, released in theatres on Friday.

At the pre-release screening, Vicky was seen holding the hand of his wife as the power couple posed for the clicks.

While Vicky sported a black Jodhpuri suit, Katrina wore a floral saree adding the glamour quotient of the screening.

Vicky's parents Shyam Kaushal and Veena Kaushal, brother Sunny Kaushal and Katrina's sister Isabelle Kaif graced the occasion.

Sunny Kaushal's rumoured girlfriend Sharvari Wagh was also present.

Speaking about working on the film where he portrayed the Marathi ruler, Vicky earlier said, " I feel so blessed to have got such a role. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where one literally gets to play a God. I come from Maharashtra where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj are not viewed just as warriors but as God."

"When I was offered the film, I was scared initially because I am aware of the sentiments associated with Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. But the team took a lot of effort for about four years to bring this film out as authentically, unapologetically and as grandly as possible," the actor added.

The film is directed by Laxman Utekar.
