Los Angeles, Feb 27 (IBNS): The Oscar witnessed a bizarre moment when Warren Beatty announced the wrong name in the Best Picture category before correcting the mistake.

It was a dramatic moment on stage when 'La La Land' was named the best picture of the night.

Soon the mistake was understood and Moonlight was then named the best movie of the year.

Moonlight is an Academy award winning film drama film from 2016 directed by Barry Jenkins, based on the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue by Tarell Alvin McCraney, and written by both.

The film stars Trevante Rhodes, André Holland, Janelle Monáe, Ashton Sanders, Naomie Harris, and Mahershala Ali.

Meanwhile, following the announcement of the wrong winner, the issue is making a buzz in the social networks with even Twitter users reacting to the unusual event.

Lauren Morgan, Associate Photo Editor,http://http://EW.com , tweeted: "I can't believe that just happened. That was insane!"

TV Critic Sonia Saraiya tweeted: "I am genuinely so unhappy that LA LA LAND's crew had to go through that but I just burst into tears at how incredible MOONLIGHT winning is."
