PM Modi's biopic to release after Lok Sabha poll results

Mumbai, May 3 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's biopic, PM Narendra Modi, will release on May 24 after the Lok Sabha poll results.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "New release date for #PMNarendraModi... Will now release on 24 May 2019, after the Lok Sabha election results, according to a statement issued by the producers... Stars Vivek Anand Oberoi in title role... Directed by Omung Kumar."

In the film, actor Vivek Oberoi has essayed the role of Modi.

However, the film's release was stopped by the Election Commission (EC), which considered it as a "hagiography" and said it would disturb the level-playing field in the election season.

Though the matter went to the courtroom, the Supreme Court refused to interfere with the EC's decision.

PM Narendra Modi traces the BJP's poster boy's life journey from childhood to his days as the Gujarat Chief Minister and also the journey as the Prime Minister.

The 2002 Gujarat riot also features in the trailer, which was released by the filmmakers.
