Mumbai/IBNS: Actor Saif Ali Khan, who has been discharged from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital five days after he was seriously injured in a stabbing incident during a burglary attempt, waved at fans as he is back home.

The actor returned to his Bandra home, where heavy force had been deployed.

According to reports, Khan has been advised a complete bed rest for a week and asked not to receive visitors to prevent any infection.

Heavy security was deployed at the hospital as well as Khan's residence as people gathered at both places to catch a glimpse of the popular actor.

The actor, who has worked in numerous Bollywood movies and OTT releases, was undergoing treatment in the hospital after he was attacked by a person during an attempted burglary incident at his Pali Hill residence.

A Mumbai court on January 19 granted the police five-day custody of Shariful Islam Shehzad, accused of breaking into actor Saif Ali Khan's residence.

The accused, identified as a Bangladeshi national, was arrested early this morning in Thane after being tracked down by the police.

According to the authorities, Shariful illegally entered India and had been living in Mumbai under the false identity of Bijoy Das for several months.

Following his arrest, Shariful was presented in court.

The police told the court that he had entered the country unlawfully and sought to investigate individuals who might have assisted him.

The court is also examining the accused's connections in Mumbai.
