London, Sep 16 (IBNS): Bollywood superstar Salman Khan received Global Diversity award at the House of Commons in Britain on Friday.

Salman received the award from British Parliament's long serving Asian MP, Keith Vaz, reports said.

Vaz was quoted by The Indian Express: "The Global Diversity Award is given to people of immense stature in terms of what they have done for diversity in the world, and he is certainly one of them."

Praising the Bollywood actor, Vaz added: "..not just a megastar for Indian and world cinema, but also someone who has done so much for humanitarian causes”.

Salman, who runs an NGO in the name of Being Human, was draped in formals while receiving the award.

After receiving the award, Salman said: "Thank you for the respect and honour you have given me. My father would have never thought… But the amount of respect you guys have given me, thank you so much for it."
