Shah Rukh Khan, his family cast votes in Mumbai as Lok Sabha polls underway

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan along with his entire family reached the polling station in Mumbai to cast his vote in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections on Monday.

Shah Rukh was joined by his wife Gauri Khan, elder son Aryan Khan, daughter Suhana Khan.

Younger son AbRam, who is yet to be eligible to vote, too was present.

Last week, SRK had made an appeal to all citizens to exercise their votes.

In an X post, he had said, "As responsible Indian citizens we must exercise our right to vote this Monday in Maharashtra. Let’s carry out our duty as Indians and vote keeping our country’s best interests in mind. Go forth Promote, our right to Vote."

Since morning, several B-Town celebrities including Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Malaika Arora, Kiara Advani cast their votes at the respective polling booths.

Voting is currently underway in 49 seats across six states and two Union Territories in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls on Monday.

The voting process started at 7 am.

Despite the small number of seats going for polls in this phase, the fates of high-profile leaders like  Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, and Piyush Goyal, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

In this phase, over 8.95 crore voters are eligible to express their democratic choice across 94,732 polling stations in the country.

States/UTs going for polls in phase-5 are - Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
