Actress Sofía Vergara and her husband Joe Manganiello have separated and they are now heading toward a divorce.

They were married for seven years.

The couple told Page Six in a statement: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

A source told Page Six: “Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”

The news of their separation comes shortly after the Modern Family actress was spotted celebrating her 51st birthday with friends in Italy. Vergara was seen without Manganiello, 46, or her wedding ring on her finger, reports People.

The couple married in Palm Beach in 2015.
