Chennai/IBNS: In a setback for Karuppu, the 9 am show on the film’s opening day was cancelled, media reports said.

The cancellation was announced by producer S. R. Prabhu on X.

“Due to unavoidable reasons 9am shows will be cancelled for Karuppu. Our sincere apologies to everyone!” Prabhu wrote.

Vijay government had granted permission

Earlier this week, newly sworn-in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had reportedly granted special permission for the 9 am screening of the film.

The movie has also been allowed five shows per day during the first two days of its release starting May 14.

Theatre owners cautious over crowd management

Theatre owners in Tamil Nadu have recently avoided early morning screenings due to concerns over crowd control and possible law-and-order issues as fans gather in huge numbers on release days of major films.

Suriya-Trisha reunion fuels buzz

Karuppu stars Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles and marks their on-screen reunion after nearly two decades.

Directed by RJ Balaji and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the Tamil-language action drama has generated massive anticipation among fans ahead of its release.
