Vicky Kaushal in Shoojit Sircar's next film Udham Singh

Mumbai, Mar 4 (IBNS): Actor Vicky Kaushal, who impressed fans with his performance in Uri this year, will next feature in Shoojit Sircar directorial Hindi film Udham Singh.

Set in the independence era, the film is a story of a freedom fighter.

Kaushal will play the role of Singh. 

The film, which is slated to release in 2020, will go to floors in the next month.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "CONFIRMED... Vicky Kaushal in Shoojit Sircar’s next film, titled #UdhamSingh... Story of a freedom fighter... Set in the pre-Independence era... Produced by Ronnie Lahiri... Starts next month... 2020 release."

Singh, who was a Punjabi revolutionary, belonged to the Ghadar Party, which is best known for assassinating former Punjab Lieutenant Governor Michael O'Dwyer.

Kaushal, who began his Bollywood career in 2012, earned appreciation for his acting in films like Masaan, Raazi, Sanju, Manmarziyaan, Uri.
