What lurks beneath this quiet village? Ghun Gaon teases a terrifying mystery

Speaking of the film, Soumya Roy Choudhury said, "Ghun Gaon is a story about the unseen darkness that exists within people and the quiet courage it takes to confront it.

"While the film unfolds through mystery and suspense, at its heart it explores fear, survival, and the resilience of the human spirit and the Darkest Side of Society."

The film is less interested in frightening its audience through spectacle than in building an atmosphere where fear grows quietly. It is the kind of story that suggests the greatest horrors are often hidden beneath lives that appear perfectly ordinary.

"I wanted to create a deeply immersive cinematic experience, a Dark Fictional Universe like never seen before. Which stays with the audience long after they leave the theatre not just for its tension, but for the emotions and questions it leaves behind, because it's just Chapter one, there are more chapters to come from the most mysterious village named Ghun Gaon", director Choudhury added.

Set in an isolated village that seems peaceful on the surface, Ghun Gaon gradually uncovers layers of deception, long-buried secrets and unspoken fears.

As unexplained incidents begin to disturb the fragile calm, every familiar face starts to conceal a mystery, and every silence hints at a truth waiting to emerge.

What begins as an unsettling journey slowly transforms into a desperate struggle for survival, where the search for answers reveals a predator far more terrifying than anyone had imagined.

The film features Aninditaa Bose, Ranojoy Bishhnu, Sankar Debnath, Rohini Chatterjee and Subha Biswas among others.

Actor Aninditaa Bose said, "Working on this film was an absolute joy. Though we were a small crew, everyone brought incredible dedication to the project. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Chimney, Kalimpong, the location became a character in itself."

Reacting to the experience working with the entire team, Anindita said, "It was a pleasure collaborating with such a talented team, led by director Soumya Roy Chowdhury. Reuniting with Ranojoy after many years for a big-screen release made the experience even more special. And having Sunidhi Chauhan lend her voice to our film is truly the icing on the cake. I can't wait for everyone to watch it."

The film's unsettling mood extends beyond its visuals. Its soundtrack, featuring voices such as Sunidhi Chauhan, Timir Biswas, and others, is designed to complement the tension rather than overpower it, becoming another layer in the story's psychological landscape.

Filming concluded recently, Ghun Gaon is set to arrive in theatres soon.
