2nd Test: Aus tail-enders help take 97-run lead
India are still trailing by 26 runs with Shikhar Dhawan (26*) and
Cheteshwar Pujara (15*) remaining at the crease at stumps.
India has already lost the wicket of Murali Vijay (27) who was showed the door to the pavilion by Mitchell Starc.
It will depend on the unbeaten batsmen to play some crucial knocks on Saturday if they plan to put some amount of challenges to the Australians.
Starting the day's play at 221 for four, Smith played a memorable innings, specially when he made his debut as the captain with this match, as he scored 133 runs. He hit 13 boundaries and two sixes in the knock.
Apart from the skipper, it was the tail-enders who showed their brilliance with their willows in this match.
Mitchell Johnson (88), Starc (52), Nathan Lyon (23) and Josh Hazlewood (32*) all showed their brilliance with their bats as the Indian bowlers found it clueless to take their wickets and cut short the Australian innings.
It was mostly the tail-enders whose contributions helped Australia post a 97-run lead against India.
India were all out for 408 runs in the first innings.
Australia lead the series 1-0.
