Bangalore/IBNS: A Karnataka man has emerged as the newest sensation in the country ever since he impressively ran 142.5 meters in 13.62 seconds during the buffalo race Kambala, drawing comparison with iconic Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, and now even Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has invited him for a trial by Sports Authority of India coaches on Monday.

Kiren Rijiju tweeted: "Officials from SAI have contacted him. His rail ticket is done and he will reach SAI centre on monday. I will ensure top national coaches to conduct his trials properly. We are team @narendramodi  ji and will do everything to identity sporting talents!"

Srinivasa Gowda, from Moodabidri in Karnataka, clocked the timing while participating in the traditional race in a paddy field in Mangalore's Kadri.

The video of the man running alongside two buffalo in a muddy field filled with water has now gone viral online.

Meanwhile, SAI also confirmed that Gowda's train ticket for a trail by coaches in Bangalore has been booked.

He will be assessed on Monday.

"We have reached out to #SrinivasaGowda and booked his train ticket. He will be in SAI's Bangalore center on Monday where our coaches will assess him. We hope to identify and nurture more talents with inputs from all sports enthusiasts. @anandmahindra @RijijuOffice @Media_SAI," DG SAI tweeted.

What is Kambala?

It is an annual buffalo race held in the southwestern Indian state of Karnataka.

Traditionally, it is sponsored by local Tuluva landlords and households in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi of Karnataka and Kasaragod of Kerala, a region collectively known as Tulu Nadu.
