Asian Games: PV Sindhu beats Yamaguchi, reaches final

Jakarta, Aug 27 (IBNS): Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in women's singles event on Monday to reach the final of Asian Games 2018.

Sindhu won the match 21-17, 15-21, 21-10.

Earlier on Monday, after losing to Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying in the semifinal, Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal settled for a bronze medal on the ninth day of the competition.

Saina won the medal in women's single.

The 28-year-old player lost to her Taiwanese competitor 17-21, 14-21.

India are presently at the ninth spot with a tally of 37 medals.
