Aus Open: Novak Djokovic. Serena reach second round

Melbourne, Jan 20 (IBNS) The second day of the ongoing Australian Open saw Serbian icon Novak Djokovic and US star Serena Williams in action as both the players won their respective clashes to move to the second round of the tournament here on Tuesday.

Serena moved to the second round by beating  Belgian Alison van Uytvanck 6-0 6-4.

Serena breezed through the first set but received a bit of fight from her opponent in the second round.

Djokovic defeated Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene 6-3 6-2 6-4 in the men's singles clash.

Defending champion Stan Wawrinka  beat Turkey's Marsel Ilhan 6-1 6-4 6-2 in his first round clash here.
