Australia beat India by 146 runs in second Test, level series 1-1
Perth, Dec 18 (IBNS): Australian bowlers dominated as they bowled out India for 140 runs in the second innings to clinch the match and level the series here on Tuesday.
Apart from Ajinkya Rahane (30) and Rishabh Pant (30), the rest of the Indian batting line-up failed miserably in the innings.
The Indian defence looked helpless in front of the Australian bowlers who came out all guns blazing to ensure they clinch the match.
Australia defeated India by 146 runs in the match.
Two more matches will be played in the series.
Hanuma Vihari (24*) and Rishabh Pant (9*) kept the visitors alive to guide them to 112/5 at stumps but on the morning of the fifth day they added some more runs but could not delay the defeat further.
Starc and Lyon picked up three wickets each for the home side.
Earlier on Monday, Australia were bowled out by India for 243.
Usman Khawaja was the top scorer for Australia in the second innings. He scored 72 off 213 balls.
Indian pace bowler Mohammad Shami clinched six wickets for 56 in 24 overs.
While Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets, Ishant Sharma clinched one.
Australia had scored 326 in the first innings. In reply, India had scored 283.
