Perth/IBNS: Australia bowled out India for a paltry 150 defeating the resistance from Nitish Reddy and Rishabh Pant in the first innings of the inaugural Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth on Friday.

After India were reduced to 73/6 following Washington Sundar's dismissal, Pant and Reddy stitched a 48-run partnership, giving India a chance to touch the 200-run mark.

Pant, who played some of his trademark unconventional shots, scored 37 off 78 balls while Reddy was the last man to be dismissed for 41 from 59 balls.

Josh Hazlewood picked four wickets including the important one of Virat Kohli while Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh and skipper Pat Cummins shared two wickets each.

India's stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, who is leading the injury-ridden side in absence of Rohit Sharma, won the toss and handed over the red ball to the hosts this morning.
