Australian team arrive in India to play limited overs series

Chennai, Sept 9 (IBNS): Australian skipper Steve Smith and his teammates have arrived in India to play the limited overs series against Virat Kohli and his men.

Smith, David Warner, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Patrick Cummins, Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade reached India from Bangladesh.

The Australian Test side played two Tests in Bangladesh recently.

Meanwhile, Aaron Finch, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, James Faulkner, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head joined them in Chennai as they reached the city on Friday from Australia.

The ODI squad will commence training on Sunday, ahead of a 50-over warm-up game in Chennai on September 12, the Cricket Australia website said.

The five-match ODI series will commence in Chennai on Sept 17.

Australia will also play three T20 International matches in India.

Coach Darren Lehmann will miss the series as he will be taking a break ahead of the upcoming Magellan Ashes, the Cricket Australia confirmed.

Australian team will be overseen in the Indian tour by assistant David Saker.
