Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain sent to jail

Dhaka, Oct 5 (IBNS): Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain, who surrendered before a court here, has been sent to prison.

 Hossain and his wife Jesmin Jahan   have been accused of torturing their  minor housemaid.

Jahan was arrested on Sunday.

Hossain's bail plea was rejected by the court.

"Hossain and his wife had been absconding since a case was registered against them last month under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act," bdnews24.com reported.
