BCCI shared an image of Shami and Kohli on Twitter and wrote: "Proud StrongUpward and onward."

Indian politicians, including Rahul Gandhi, and the cricket fraternity came out in support of Shami following the online trolls he faced.

Even Pakistani opener Mohammad Rizwan, who scored a match-winning knock against India, came out in support of pacer Mohammed Shami who faced online trolls after the match.

Rizwan played a match winning knock against India in the opening match of the T20 World Cup of the two teams played in Dubai on Sunday.

"The kind of pressure, struggles & sacrifices a player has to go through for his country & his people is immeasurable.@MdShami11 is a star & indeed of the best bowlers in the world," Rizwan tweeted.

Meanwhile, a source in the ruling government told IBNS: "After a detailed analysis of the purported online abuse against cricketer Shami that made headlines in the last two days, it was found out that actually the entire abuse was limited to just 8 Instagram posts and even that had come from fake handles."
