BCCI mourns death of cricket statistician

Mumbai, Sept 23 (IBNS) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has mourned the death of cricket historian and statistician Anandji Dossa who died at age 98 in New York on Monday.
"An era has ended with the demise of Mr. Anandji Dossa. He was one of the game's unsung heroes," said BCCI honorary secretary Sanjay Patel in a statement. 
 
"His contribution to the sport was extraordinary. He was among those who made cricket and cricketers immortal, by collating and preserving the accounts of their achievements for posterity. He was Chairman of the Statistical Committee of the BCCI in the 1970s. Anandjibhai played a critical role in guiding many individuals, who followed his footsteps. On behalf of the BCCI, I would like to condole his death, and pray that his soul rests in peace," said Patel.
 
Dossa and his wife were living in New York with their daughters since past one year.
 
Dossa did live scoring for all major cricket tournaments.
