Kolkata, Jul 7 (IBNS): East Bengal Football Club, one of India's premier teams, and Bengaluru-based Quess Corp Ltd, recently entered into a partnership to take the club's sporting activities forward.

With East Bengal's partnership with the UB Group ending last month, according to media reports, integrated business service provider Quess Corp is the new sponsor.

The famous Kolkata-based soccer club, founded in 1920, standing on the threshold of its centenary year, will be known as Quess East Bengal FC Pvt. Ltd (QEBFC).

Managing Director of QEBFC, Kalyan Majumdar said, "We are happy and excited with this partnership with the Quess brand and together we are hopeful of building India’s best football club.  The association with Quess is promising and brings a refreshing change for the club and its members and fans with many untapped possibilities. We believe our best is yet to come and we now aim to achieve new landmarks in the game of football.”

Club president, Dr Pranab Dasgupta, spoke highly about their sponsor's business achievements and said, “It’s a memorable and historic occasion, the coming together of Quess and East Bengal Club. This union is a step forward towards the fulfillment of Baichung Bhutia’s dream that India will play the 2026 FIFA World Cup."

Ajit Issac, the Chairman and Managing Director of Quess Corp Ltd. said, “Quess is only ten years old and the club is 98 years old in a country which is 71 years old. If we have institutions that are 98 years old, it shows the resilience of the club, the tenacity to overcome events and its vision."

“We like to congratulate the club on where it has reached and Quess wants the club to compete with the leading teams of the world. We want to commit the resources that we can, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for both Quess and East Bengal Club,” he said.

A senior Executive Committee member Debabrata Sarkar said that the club stoically bore its financial crunch following the departure of the earlier sponsor but waited patiently to pick the right partner.
