Birmingham, June 4 (IBNS): In a rain-hit match, India put up a strong performance to beat arch-rivals Pakistan handsomely by 124 runs in a Champions League match here on Sunday.

After posting 319 runs for the loss of three wickets, Pakistan needed to score 324 runs to win the match in 48 overs via D/L method.

But rain once again hit the proceedings when new target of  289 in 41 overs was set for Pakistan.

Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could not match up to the strength of India bowling attack.

Pakistan were bowled out for 164 runs.

Azhar Ali remained the top scorer for the side with his 50 runs knock and it was later Mohammad Hafeez (33) who  tried to show some signs of form, but the remaining batting lineup failed miserably in this crucial match.

Umesh Yadav bowled perfectly and picked up three wickets for India.

Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets each.

Indian batsmen performed strongly to help side post 319 runs for the loss of three wickets in a high-voltage Champions Trophy match against Pakistan here on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma (91) and Shikhar Dhawan (68) added 136 runs in their first wicket partnership to give India a solid start at the beginning of the innings.

Yuvraj Singh showed touch of his earlier form as he timed the ball well and hit some memorable shots outside the park.
