Champions Trophy: Sourav Ganguly predicts winner of India-Pakistan clash

| @indiablooms | Feb 22, 2025, at 10:33 am

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly feels India are one of the favourite teams to win the ongoing Champions Trophy.

He said India have dominated Pakistan on the cricket field for the past 25 years.

“India are a powerful white-ball team. In the last 25 years, India have lost only once to Pakistan in a world tournament," Ganguly said while attending an event in Kolkata on Friday.

"India are the favourite for this tournament," he said.

Ganguly made the comments at a time when India is gearing up to play Pakistan in a Champions Trophy group-stage clash on Sunday.

The two arch-rivals last played against each other in the T20 World last year.

India defeated Pakistan in a high-voltage match in New York.

Meanwhile, India began their Champions Trophy hunt by beating Bangladesh in the first group-stage clash.

Pakistan's start to the tournament began with a defeat against New Zealand.

Pakistan is defending the Champions Trophy.

It had won the last edition of the tournament by beating India.

The tournament also marked the return of an ICC event to Pakistan after 29 years.

ICC World Cup was last co-hosted by India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 1996.
