CPL: Rahkeem Cornwall retires hurt midway in his innings due to unusual reason

St.Lucia, Sept 2 (IBNS): It was an unusual reason which made one of the biggest cricketers in the world-Rahkeem Cornwall- to retire hurt during a Caribbean Premier League match between the Barbados Tridents and the St Lucia Stars even after he got a brilliant start to his innings recently.

The West Indian hammered  78* from 44 balls as he opened the innings for Stars.

But as he found it difficult to run between the wickets, the cricketer decided to retire hurt.

Cricket analyst Freddie Wilde tweeted, "Rahkeem Cornwall—a vast man—has retired himself on 78* (44) when finding it hard to run between the wickets in a tight run-chase. #CPL17."

In another tweet, he said: "Pollard, the fielding team captain, is furious - shouting & gesticulating at Cornwall as he walks off the field with Sammy coming in. #CPL17."

He said: "St Lucia Stars end up losing by 29 runs. Cornwall’s decision to retire out did not change the match but his inability to run did. #CPL17."

Cornwall's decision to retire hurt mid-way in his innings did not change the fortune of the game as his side was defeated by the opponents.
