Cricketers slam Iceland Cricket for mocking Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan

London, June 19 (IBNS): The World Cup match between England and Afghanistan on Tuesday was all about breaking records and young Afghan spinner Rashid Khan faced jolts as he gave away massive 110 runs in 9 overs to write his name in the not so memorable page of the World Cup.

Rashid could not pick up a single wicket, a rare bad day for him.

Meanwhile, Iceland Cricket triggered a controversy for a tweet on Rashid Khan.

"We’ve just heard that Rashid Khan has scored Afghanistan’s first century of the #CWC19! Wow! 110 from 56 balls. The most runs ever scored by a bowler in the World Cup or something. Well batted young man. #ENGvAFG #AFGvENG" the cricket board tweeted.

However, the cricket world slammed the cricket body for its tweet.

Cricketer Luke Wright tweeted: "Rubbish tweet. Rather than trying to be funny why not be respectful to someone that has done so much for cricket and especially associate members ."

English pacer Jofra Archer posted: "Terrible tweet."

Amid criticisms, the Iceland's cricket body later tweeted again: "Time for this one again. We apologise for making light of a world class player having a rare bad day. We are so ashamed. Because we’re the world’s worst international cricket team, we shouldn’t make fun of anyone ever. Please send us a list of legitimate and forbidden targets."
