D Gukesh bungee jumps to celebrate World Chess Championship win

The world has seen champions celebrating their victories in unique ways but chess Grandmaster D Gukesh preferred to take an unconventional way to make his title victory memorable. He decided to go for a bungee jump.

In the process, the youngest World Chess Champion also overcame his fear of heights.

If media reports are to be believed, Gukesh had promised his trainer Polish grandmaster Grzegorz Gajewski that he would go for a bungee jump if he won the title by beating his Chinese opponent Ding Liren.

Keeping his promise, Gukesh decided to visit Skypark Sentosa in Singapore where he performed his first bungee jump.

Gukesh shared a video of his thrilling jump on X.

He wrote on X: " I did it!"

Before his jump, he could be heard saying in the video that he was feeling 'scared' to perform his first jump.

He is now the second India after Viswanathan Anand to win the title.
