FIFA Club World Cup: Official draw to take place on Sept 21

Zurich, Sept 16 (IBNS): The Official Draw of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016 presented by Alibaba E-Auto will take place on Wednesday, Sept 21, 11.00 local time (CET), at the Home of FIFA in Zurich, an official release confirmed.

The draw will be streamed live on FIFA.com.


To this date four teams have qualified for this year’s edition of the competition: Auckland City FC of New Zealand (OFC Champions League winners), Club América of Mexico (CONCACAF Champions League winners), Real Madrid of Spain (UEFA Champions League winners) and Atlético Nacional of Colombia (Copa Libertadores winners).

The winners of this year’s AFC Champions League and CAF Champions League, as well as a club from Japan’s J.League representing the host nation will be determined in the upcoming months.

Media representatives who wish to attend the Official Draw are kindly requested to contact the FIFA Media Department on media@fifa.org by Monday, Sept 19, the latest.

The application period for accreditation for the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016 will begin on Oct 10, 2016 and will end on Nov 15, 2016.

The accreditation procedure will be done solely through the FIFA Media Channel.

The thirteenth edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to be played from Dec 8 to 18, 2016, will take place in Yokohama and Osaka in Japan.
